What is AUPDR?
In the five decades since its inauguration in 28th February 1968, Auroville has evolved various structures and methodologies to plan the township. The data on this aspect of Auroville has been collated, organized and classified in this website as a tool and resource for Auroville planning bodies, so that they might have an historical overview to understand the present while planning the future. The documents collected from various sources was verified by a group of Aurovilians who have been involved in its planning and development.
Methodology?
With adaptation of two systematic approaches to organize information, we could evolve a unified structured classification system. The classification system in this website is a synthesis of organic development processes of Auroville and standard urban planning framework.
Target audience?
While being a repository of information on Auroville township for students and practicing professionals in town planning, urban design and architecture, the repository will also be helpful for organizations, institutions and administrative bodies that interact, partner and collaborate with Auroville.
